The story is that in the early 1920s a young girl would go swimming in the creek/river below the covered bridge and her parents would come in the early evening in their car and honk 3 times to let her know that it was time to go.  Obviously one of those times the parents came to pick up the girl she never showed - apparently drowning in the water.

 
The story has it that if you drive onto the bridge and honk the horn 3 times a little girl is supposed to appear and try to get into the car with you.  (not that I believe that part of the story) however, several people have said they have gotten some weird spikes while there and the sound of a little girl giggling and splashing around in the water when nothing is really there
